8/20/24 update
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 20, 2024 at 09:17:19 AM

Hi everyone,

I know it's been a gvery long time since I've posted an update. I have no excuses. Even though my life has been filled with problems, I should have at least been giving you regular updates. I hope some day you can forgive me for that.

I am not going to be able to fulfill the print goals for this project, nor can I refund your money. Put simply, I am financially unable to do this. In fact, I'm thousands of dollars in debt. The only thing I can do right now, is send out Print on Demand vouchers to you so you can get the book at cost, if you want to. I'll be doing this over the next few days. I have to make sure I have all of the email addresses, and that they are formatted correctly.

Again, I am truly sorry.

11/13/22 update: Still in a bad place
over 3 years ago – Mon, Nov 14, 2022 at 02:06:02 PM

Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since the last update. I'm very sorry about that. Life has been very crazy over the past four/five months. I haven't been able to do much on the revisions to the book. I've been extremely sick, and overwhelmed with everything else I have on my plate in terms of work. I've had numerous other issues in my personal life crop up, and things have been really hard to deal with.

I eventually want to get you the books you deserve, but I don't know how soon that will be. I'll do my best to update you more frequently. Again, I apologize for the lack of updates.

5/31/2022 update
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jun 01, 2022 at 12:28:15 AM

Hi everyone, It’s long past a time for an update. First off, I want to apologize. Life has been nothing short of hell over the past four months, and you deserve an explanation.

Back in early January, I did a pre-colonoscopy test. About a week later the results came back indicating that I had a critical-high amount of blood in my fecal matter, so my doctor ordered a colonoscopy. It took a long time to get the appointment, but I was finally able to get it done at the end of March. The doctor removed ten polyps, one of which was abnormally large and pre-cancerous.

The second colonoscopy was performed about three weeks later, and it came back clean. This led to a battery of tests, including a fully-body PET scan, multiple CT scans of various parts of my body, an endoscopy of my upper GI tract, and an MRI of my chest.

The doctors found a bunch of issues with my Lymph nodes throughout my body, as well as black “clouds” on my lungs.  Many of these issues are related to either emphysema, or my arthritis. I still have to get a biopsy on my lungs and a few other tests, but right now I don’t know when this is going to happen.

Long story short, it’s been a grim past few months, and I still have a lot of tests to do. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t freaked out about this. It’s put me in a really dark place, and as a consequence I’ve not gotten much work done on any of the projects I have to do.

I have not given up on the Widow’s Tear. I plan on getting the printed book done and sent out to you; I just haven’t been able to muster up the creativity to finish it.

I promise to update you more frequently.

Again, I apologize for everything, and I hope you can forgive me.

January Update
about 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 12, 2022 at 07:53:03 PM

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the lack of updates. It’s hard to explain why I haven’t given any updates these past few months; I’ve just been in a pretty dark place in terms of this project.

When I run into a major problem, I tend to retreat from the world and sort sit on the problem until I can figure out how to fix it.

I received the Print on Demand books in early November and it had a ton of issues. The color looked washed out both for graphics and the images. There were issues with the text formatting, column spacing…and the maps….

In the current layout, the maps are hard to read. They look washed out, too, but it’s not just that, they are too small in relation to the page width. The maps are pretty much illegible and that has to change. They need to be larger, and to do that, the overall graphic design has to change accordingly. I just haven’t yet figured out exactly how to make the design more open to accommodate larger maps.

The page borders/graphics need to be removed. The entire design makes the text feel cramped, which makes everything much harder to read.

The color profile is wrong for the book settings and all of the artwork, which is most likely what is causing all the issues with washed out text.

The cover wasn't wrapping correctly along the top and bottom, so I needed to fix those issues as well.

I really am so sorry for not contacting you sooner.
